Create momentum in your healing and move toward greater peace, confidence, and connection
Maybe you’ve done therapy before, but you feel like you need deeper healing.
COMPLEX TRAUMA & CHILDHOOD WOUNDS
Some memories carry a lot of weight. Childhood emotional wounds, long-term abuse, betrayal, or other painful memories can continue to affect how you think, feel, and respond, even years later.
YOUR BODY STILL FEELS LIKE IT ISN'T SAFE
You know the trauma is over, but your body still reacts like you're living through it. Certain situations can trigger anxiety, shame, fear, or strong emotions, leaving your nervous system feeling hijacked and braced for impact.
THE SAME PATTERNS KEEP SHOWING UP
You find yourself people-pleasing, struggling with boundaries, expecting the worst, or feeling like you have to earn your worth. You know where these patterns come from, but they still feel too difficult to change on your own.
YOU'VE DONE THERAPY BEFORE, BUT STILL FEEL STUCK
You've talked about your past. You've learned coping skills. You understand yourself better than you used to. But you’re frustrated because it feels like you never got to the deeper healing you were hoping for.
Healing doesn't always fit into a 50-minute appointment.
Whether you're seeking relief from long-standing emotional pain, hoping to make meaningful progress after years of therapy, or wanting dedicated time to focus on a specific goal, a therapy intensive at Rise Mental Health provides the space and support to move forward with intention.

What Is A Trauma Therapy Intensive?
If you’ve been in therapy on and off for years, you probably know the feeling. You start with hope that this time things will be different. Then life gets busy. You miss a session. You begin opening up painful memories, only to stop because time runs out. Before long, it feels like you’re always starting over instead of moving forward.
At Rise Mental Health, we don’t believe you’re stuck because you aren’t trying hard enough. Sometimes, the traditional 50-minute therapy model simply isn’t enough for the kind of healing you’re looking for. It takes a tremendous amount of courage to come to therapy in the first place. You deserve enough time to stay with the work instead of feeling like you have to close it all back up because the hour is over.
That’s why we created Rise Beyond Trauma, a personalized therapy intensive experience that combines EMDR, Internal Family Systems (IFS), and other trauma-informed approaches based on your unique needs. Instead of healing in fragments, you’ll have dedicated time to slow down, stay with the work, and process what you’ve been carrying with the care and attention it deserves.
Why Consider A Trauma Therapy Intensive?
If you’ve been carrying the effects of complex trauma, painful memories, grief, betrayal, childhood emotional wounds, or long-term stress, you know they don’t disappear simply because you understand where they came from. They can continue to affect your relationships, your confidence, your health, and the way you move through everyday life.
If you’ve ever left therapy thinking, “I feel like we were just getting to the important part,” a trauma therapy intensive was designed for you. Extended sessions give you the uninterrupted time to work through what’s been keeping you stuck so you can build real momentum toward healing.

Experiences That May Benefit From Trauma Therapy Intensives
Complex Trauma and Childhood Emotional Wounds
Do your childhood experiences still shape how you see yourself, trust others, manage your emotions, or navigate relationships? Whether you grew up walking on eggshells, felt unseen, experienced abuse or neglect, or always had to be the strong one, a trauma intensive can help reduce the emotional weight these experiences still carry.
PTSD and Trauma Responses
Do you feel like your mind and body are still reacting to experiences that are over? If you’re experiencing flashbacks, nightmares, anxiety, panic, emotional numbness, hypervigilance, or feel easily triggered, a trauma intensive can provide dedicated time to help your nervous system process what happened so you can feel more present, safe, and in control.
Sexual Trauma, Betrayal Trauma, and Medical Trauma
Some experiences leave wounds that are difficult to put into words. A trauma therapy intensive creates space to process painful experiences with the care, safety, and support of someone who understands.
Perfectionism and Harsh Self-Criticism
You may hold yourself to impossible standards, constantly second-guess yourself, or feel like you’re never doing enough. Rise Beyond Trauma can help uncover where these beliefs began and loosen their grip.
People Pleasing and Boundary Struggles
Setting boundaries can feel terrifying when you’ve spent years trying to keep others comfortable. Intensive therapy helps you understand these patterns and build greater confidence in yourself.
Grief and Chronic Pain
Has grief or chronic pain changed the way you experience your life? Whether you’re grieving the loss of a loved one, a relationship, your health, or the life you thought you’d have, a trauma intensive provides dedicated time to process your experience, reduce emotional overwhelm, and begin moving forward.

What’s Included In Your Trauma Therapy Intensive
Healing is a process, not a single conversation. That’s why every therapy intensive includes time to prepare, dedicated space for the deeper work, and follow-up support to help you carry what you’ve learned into everyday life.
Pre-Intensive Planning Session
We'll begin with a 90-minute session to get to know your story, understand your goals, and prepare for the intensive. Together, we'll identify the painful memories, beliefs, emotions, or experiences you'd like to focus on, so your intensive is built around what matters most to you.
Personalized Intensive Workbook
You'll receive a workbook with assessments, reflection exercises, and guided activities to help you prepare before your intensive and track your progress throughout the process. It's yours to refer back to long after your sessions are complete.
Your Customized Therapy Intensive
Your therapy intensive takes place in person or virtually and is completely tailored to your goals. Using EMDR, Internal Family Systems (IFS), grounding, nervous system regulation, and other trauma-informed approaches, we'll focus on the areas where you're seeking the greatest healing and relief.
Post-Intensive Follow-Up Session
After your intensive, we'll meet for a 90-minute follow-up session to reflect on what you've experienced, celebrate the progress you've made, answer any questions, and create a plan to help you continue moving forward with confidence.
Trauma-Focused Intensives
Approaches We Use During Trauma Therapy Intensives

EMDR Therapy
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing) helps your brain process traumatic memories and experiences that still feel emotionally charged. It can reduce the intensity of triggers, anxiety, PTSD symptoms, and painful memories so they no longer feel as present or overwhelming.

IFS Therapy
IFS (Internal Family Systems) helps you understand the different parts of yourself, such as the anxious part, the people-pleasing part, or the inner critic. Instead of judging or fighting these parts, you learn what they are trying to protect you from and respond with greater curiosity and self-compassion.

EMDR + IFS Intensives
We integrate EMDR and IFS throughout your intensive based on what you need in each moment. IFS helps us understand and build trust with the protective parts of you, while EMDR supports the processing of the memories and experiences beneath them. Together, these approaches provide a gentle, personalized way to address both traumatic memories and the patterns that developed around them.

Frequently Asked Questions About Trauma Therapy Intensives
What is a therapy intensive?
A therapy intensive gives you dedicated time to work through deeper emotional wounds without feeling rushed by the clock. At Rise Mental Health, we offer EMDR Intensives, IFS Intensives, and EMDR + IFS Intensives, all personalized to your goals. During your consultation, we’ll help you choose the approach that’s the best fit for you.
Who can benefit from a therapy intensive?
Therapy intensives are a great fit for people who are ready for meaningful relief and lasting change. If you’re ready to see things shift in your life and your relationships, but you don’t want to spend the next year working toward those changes, a therapy intensive may be right for you. Whether you’re hoping to process a specific trauma, work through a painful memory, or find relief from a particular challenge, your intensive will be personalized around your goals. Together, we’ll use the dedicated time to focus on what matters most to you.
Why should I do a therapy intensive instead of a traditional 50-minute therapy session?
Therapy intensives offer more dedicated time for meaningful therapeutic work than a traditional 50-minute session. In a typical therapy appointment, the first 5 to 10 minutes are often spent checking in, and the last 5 to 10 minutes are used to wrap up and transition back into your day. That usually leaves about 30 to 40 minutes for deeper therapeutic work.
A therapy intensive is different. A 3-hour intensive provides approximately 2.5 hours of focused therapeutic work. That’s the equivalent of about five traditional therapy sessions, or more than a month of weekly therapy, all in a single day. The extended time allows you to stay with the work, build momentum, and make meaningful progress without feeling rushed by the clock.
How many therapy intensive days should I schedule?
Great question! The answer depends on your goals and what you’d like to focus on during your Therapy intensive. Some people find that a one-day intensive provides the support they need, while others are working through more complex experiences that may benefit from a three-day intensive or a longer treatment plan.
During your consultation, we’ll talk through your goals and recommend the option that we believe will best support your healing.
How do I know if a therapy intensive is right for me?
A therapy intensive may be a good fit if you’ve hit a plateau in weekly therapy, want to focus on a specific trauma or emotional wound, or feel like you’ve spent years understanding your patterns without finding the relief you were hoping for. During your consultation, we’ll talk through your goals and help you decide if an intensive is the right next step.
Can a therapy intensive help if I've already done years of therapy?
Absolutely. Many of our clients have spent years in therapy and still feel like something hasn’t fully shifted. A therapy intensive creates the time to gently explore the deeper emotional wounds that often get set aside when sessions end. For many people, that’s where meaningful healing begins.
If I already have a primary therapist, can I still do a therapy intensive?
Absolutely! Therapy intensives often work very well alongside ongoing therapy. With your permission, we’ll ask you to sign a Release of Information so we can collaborate with your current therapist. Working together helps ensure your care feels coordinated, supportive, and aligned with your goals.
Can my insurance help pay for a therapy intensive?
Therapy Intensives are not covered by insurance.
When are payments due?
A 50% non-refundable deposit is required to reserve your Therapy Intensive. The remaining balance is due seven days before your first intensive session.
What if I'm interested in a therapy intensive but I'm not 100% sure?
That’s completely okay. Let’s schedule a time to talk. I’m happy to answer your questions, learn more about what you’ve been experiencing, and explore whether a Therapy Intensive is the right fit for your goals.
